Garrett Doering

My name is Garrett Doering, and I am an educator from Washington State in the United States. I graduated with my master’s degree in teaching at the secondary level in 2023, and I have around 4 years of substituting experience. Beyond the beginning of my transient teaching experience with the BGC, I have found joy in teaching others to find joy in learning. And, indeed, it also feeds the existential beast and the desire to create good in the world when it can be so hard to find.

My flight to Hungary marks the beginning of my desire to explore the world. It was, in fact, my first ever flight. But I look forward to learning and growing as a teacher and a person. The world is large, and I hope that experiencing it in Hungary will give me a greater appetite for more of it. Though Budapest is beautiful, and I can’t imagine being bored any time soon.
