Duties and responsibilities:

BGC Hungary is looking for a fun-loving, creative and self- motivated early childhood educator to achieve its goal to provide an innovative, award-winning full-immersion English afterschool program. Placements are in public schools in the 13th district of Budapest, Hungary and in the outskirts of Budapest (2151 Fót; 2120 Dunakeszi).

A successful candidate will:

• During contact hours implement our language acquisition program in grades 1-8 daily.
• During 75-min CLUB TIME sessions provide a native English environment through stories, hands-on activities, sport, songs, games and craft activities in a bilingual setting, while having full responsibility for the class.
• Lead our full-immersion English language BGC Afterschool curriculum while facilitate conversational club time activities.
• Prepare visual aids to be able to give comprehensible input for our nonnative students aged 6-14.
• Fulfill other obligations, such as garden and snack time supervisions, conduct of transition times and indoor free play sessions.
• Supervise the students side-by-side with a Hungarian licensed classroom teacher in grades 1-4, and lead the sessions by yourself in grades 5-8.
• Have 20 contact hours/week spent with the class, including 5×75 min guided language focused Club Time session weekly, but not counting preparation and meeting times.
• Occasionally help organize and participate in site events such as craft afternoon with parents, or help children get ready for end of year performances.
• During availability hours attend occasional meetings with BGC Program Coordinator and co-teachers.

Job requirements:

BGC Afterschool Program for primary students is designed for applicants with some teaching experience and classroom management skills.

• Native English speaker or balanced bilingual.
• A bachelor’s degree in any field (a degree in education is valued).
• Commitment to 10 months.
• TEFL / CELTA certificate if the applicant is not a licensed teacher.

About the Company:

Boys and Girls Clubs of Hungary is the first European sister club of the Boys and Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) and a partner of the World Federation of Youth Clubs. The primary goal of the BGC English Program is to effectively teach English in a native environment.

Currently we serve over 750 children daily with our outstanding teachers. The BGC English Kindergarten Program runs for 3 (+1) years for children aged 3-6, whereas our BGC English School Program runs for 4+4 years for children aged 6-14. The BGC English After School Program implements the full-immersion English language acquisition program for nonnative students aged 6-10, while the BGC English Workshop continues our successful Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) program for students aged 10-14.

Our goal is to facilitate the students’ language acquisition to the highest level in a stress-free environment. The activities help to develop all aspects of the children’s personalities, allowing them to gain a competitive advantage for their futures. Compensation:

net 280.000 HUF – 400.000 HUF (details discussed in the interview).
Enrolled for Hungarian National Health Care.
For gaining extra compensation, opportunity for taking up sessions at the BGC Preschool Program.
Compensation is paid monthly as per Hungarian practice by the 10th of each month.

Outside of the class:

BGC Teachers will have endless opportunities to travel and explore, Hungary has a lot to offer to its visitors.
